A Silent Place
Father, in divine love You lead
Us to silent places where Your absence
Is like a deafening echo that presses against the soul.
With trembling confidence we cling to what we know because we cannot feel.
Our sight is fixed upon that “God-forsaken” cross
Where Your Son knew
That in the darkest hours
Are the deepest works.

When God asks us to be still, there is a second part to that being still. We are not asked to be still and do nothing, we are not asked to be still and worry about our past, present, or future, we are asked to be still and know that He is God. In the stillness, we ought to be reflecting and knowing with firm affrimation that He is God. That is what we should be doing, when we are still ....
