Follow the ... Shepherd

I have just been schooled about my knowledge of all things sheep-y by Wikipedia. It is a commonly held notion that sheep are stupid animals that need to be herded, led and go astray easily. Well, that's only partly true haha. Did you know that sheep are mainly concerned about food? Isn't that just how we humans are? We are always concerned about what we're going to get. Will this friendship benefit me? Is this person going to listen to me and share my emotional burdens? What should I get for dinner? And when we don't get the things we need from one area, we move to another place to get it. I remember making a nighttime roadtrip with my sister and she wanted me to stop at a ghetto Wendy's in a really sketchy town. All I can say is thank God for drive-thrus. But seriously, we tend to put ourselves in dangerous situations to get what we want or what we think we need.

Jesus said: "I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. As the Father knows Me, even so i know the Father, and I lay down My life for the sheep. And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd." - John 10: 14-16. Jesus is leading our flock. We need to trust that He will lead us to the right pastures to get what we need. How could we doubt His direction? He brought us dirty sheep in from outside, washed us, and allowed us to be a part of His special flock. Then, when we wandered off on our own trying to lead ourselves to a "better" pasture, He found us and brought us back. This is our shepherd. This is our Savior. This is our God. Always seeking to save the lost.

Praise God for the lost being found everyday!
