Numbers 11:5-6 : We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely;
the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the
garlick: But now our soul is dried away: there is nothing at all, beside this
manna, before our eyes.
The Israelites, as they were traveling in the desert constantly grumbled against
God. They forgot all the brutalization and humiliation they were subjected to
under the Egyptians, but were still nostalgic for the little pleasures.They were
constantly looking back, and not living in the present and looking toward the
future and what God was trying to do with them as a nation. They were His
people, and they forgot that. Sometimes we can get caught up looking back
at the little pleasures in our lives and be so nostalgic, we can get caught up
in the mirk of that, and regress a little in our present walk with God. We
can get caught up holding onto things of the past that we can't progress in
the present. It' like a tug of war, that causes us to stay in one place. I
encourage all of us, to let go of the things in the past that are a hindrance
so we can live in the promise of what was meant for us.
